As a follow on to my recent post about the high-cost of these original hybrid batteries here is a look inside one.
FROM
If the car is an early E300 bluetec hybrid it will have a small hybrid battery which is integrated into the air-conditioning system for cooling purposes- it's located where the normal battery is found under the bonnet. I will try and find a video of the set up. As such its a pretty specialist unit hence no aftermarket equivalent.
this will give you an idea how complex and integrated these systems are with the cars normal 12v electrics powertrain and A/C Iits for an S class but principles are the same. think the integrated electric motor autobox is a ZF design.
