c class c220 sports coupe 2003
Right searched a lot on this and the egr can not just be blanked off as will go into limp mode (w203 c220cdi coupe) can you blank it off and leave the egr connected plugged into the connection sort of hidden out the way or will this just knacker the engine as will still be opening and closing but in affect not doing anything to the engine
Or am I asking for a world of problems seem like the cheapest option
Have searched and found nothing on doing this way and would it run cleaner, this I may try as car has 134000 and is still running great great fuel economy about 500-600 per a tank and up to 61mpg on the trip computer on a run I don't want to kill my car for no reason.

You could fall foul of the new MoT regs on
8.2.2.1 Exhaust emission control equipment

It'll still notice. It'll then assume the EGR is faulty/clogged and log codes. There's a % requested and % achieved figures for the EGR, and if it's opening as requested, but the engine isn't getting the expected result, it'll assume it's blocked and needs maintenance.

If it's not broke, don't fix it.

If it's getting dirty regularly maybe the engine is overfilled with oil and coughing the excess back through the intake for combustion.

Try a fuel additive like millers ecomax and steer clear of supermarket fuels. Cleaner burn = cleaner engine.

Your answer to this is to have it unplugged. No need for it to be blanked off. Unplug it as is and fit the EGR shunt. Ive done this to quite a few W03's including my own and its the most reliable fix with no hassles. No need for anything else. It simulates the EGR to the ECU to fool it into thinking its all fine n dandy. But re-circulating has been stopped.

Read here and u will learn all u need to about it then just simply build one or buy one and fit it. Problem solved.
