I have some questions is TCU VIN Coded? I am updating EGS51 to EGS52 as i am retro fitting tiptronic to my W202.

I have everything working tiptronic shifter goes through all gears, gear info is shown in the instrument cluster.

The problem is when i connect EGS52 my car doesnt fire up? The new TCU is coded to 210074 which is an E55 W210.

Hi Olly yes i have. I cant code it to w202 i can only code it a w210 or a w208. As w202 isnt a model designation in the EGS52

I think its something to do with the coding.

What is the selector from?

What is the cluster from?

Can you code it to what cars they came out of?

Selector is from w208

Cluster is from w208

Yes olly coding to a w210 or w208 is possible. Its currently coded to 210074 which is E55 w210. There are no fault codes on EGS52 and car is not in limp mode. Only thing is its not firing up.

STAR picks up ESM Electronic Selector Module also no fault codes.

I think i did try it but am not 100% sure. Could it be TCU hasnt got drive authorisation?

Just coded tcu to 208374 still not starting?

Bump

You have the same problem as me!

I put in all the codes you did and still my car didn't start.

Doing some more research I have found indications that:

a) EGS52 is not compatable with older M.E 2.0 system

b) The wiring for the EGS52 TCU is somehow different even though the connectors are the same.

I'm still trying to find a solution as if one is found the EGS52 TCU would unlock the driving capabilities of our cars!

Hi Paul i have most of it working only thing is car wont start up and EGS thinks car is started and running at 750rpm when clearley its not.

I can manually override starter motor and car starts up with no fault codes on EGS52.

Where you able to solve this?
Maybe I can help you, as I did this mod myself.
Cheers,

Hi there no still not done. How did you do yours and what did you have to add to make it work properly?

Hi
