SL55 AMG
Hi. This is my first post and hoping I can find an answer to my electrical problem. I collected my '04 SL55 AMG from its winter storage yesterday. The guy had put the trickle charger on the battery under the bonnet, not the one in the boot as I asked him to. 6 months later I've lost central locking, roof etc. My question is, can I remove the rear battery, charge it and refit and expect everything to work as normal, or will it need resetting in some way ? Would really appreciate any help.

charge it up first, then there will be a reset procedure for windows and roof in your car manual.

worst case you may need to get it on star to remedy

Check the fuse for the pse pump hasn't blown. If it hasn't then removing and refitting it may reset it.
It's in the rear Sam unit located behind the drivers seat. If you move the seat forward you'll see the access panel that clips off under the storage compartment
20amp fourth in from the left from memory

spot on

Thank you Wayne, you were spot on with your diagnosis. The fuse bad blown, and it blew 2 more as soon as I changed them. I changed it with the ignition off and gave the car a blast coz the electrics were unavailable (very low rear battery). When I got back the central locking worked and the boot opened and soft closed. If I remove the rear battery to charge indoors will it cause problems with any systems ? Thanks again, Andy.

I have also had central locking vacuum pump issues on my SL 55. low battery and blowing fuses. even with a trickle charger on the rear battery I need to run the car every 2/3 weeks. have had the Pump removed an am told I need to replace this, despite the fact that it is dry and appears fine. £350 for a replacement from the states. peter booth
