I have 1993 Mercedes ce coupe 24 valve, the car is not running, Iv been told the engine is for a sl of the same year how can I identify if the engine is correct for the car? After having the car for years it time to put it back on the road any help would be appreciated

Engines were used over a wide model range. Publish the engine number and VIN here and I am sure someone can check it for you.

Does the engine number match that on the V5?

Hi where is the engine number located on the block, the original engine was removed prior to be purchasing the car

If the engine was changed then the DVLA should have been notified in case it alters the RFL liability.

Engine numbers can be in various places, you will just have to get a torch and look. The number is usually on a side of the block or other flat surface.

The VIN would be a good starting point to establish which model of engine your car came with from the factory.

Then, you'll need to find the engine number, and the first 3 digits will be the engine model code.

ENGINE NO MAY BE ON THE ENGINE BLOCK BEHIND ALTERNATOR OR ENGINE MOUNT

YOU WILL HAVE UNDOUBTEDLY HAVE TO CLEAN THE BLOCK UP TO SEE THE NUMBER AT ALL!

3.2 L M104.99x

For the 3.2 L (3,199 cc), the compression ratio is the same 10.0:1 on all W210, R129, and W140 but it did differ from 9.2:1 to 10.0:1 on W124 (M104.992).[4]
