evening,

I noticed the car revving at about 1500 rpm when cruising at 30mph earlier today, this happened with cruise control and without. When I went up to 40mph it dropped back down to a normal level.

Does anyone know what this could be? It didn't do it for the whole drive

this is a 2011 C220 CDI with the 7 speed gearbox

Do you know which gear and which gearbox mode you were in?

I was just in drive, and in E, not S (I turned S on then off to see what would happen, no difference)

I would estimate I was in probably 3rd / 4th gear

Normally this would just be the DPF regeneration - in gentle driving it keeps the revs at about 1500 - 2000 and at idle the revs are slightly higher than normal. After a few minutes it finishes and normal service resumes.

Thanks fivealive, that makes sense!
