About 10 days ago I got a light come up saying " ESP - Visit Workshop "
Turned off the engine. Started back up, message disappeared.

This morning, in the exact same carpark at the exact same time. This message came up again.
Turned off engine, light went off. Scanned for codes, nothing.

Any ideas ? Car is a C240 from 2002
Thanks

Try resetting the steering angle sensor, by doing a few slow, lock to lock rotations with the engine running.

Thanks. If it comes on again I will do that
What scan tool did you use?

Not all are able to scan the relevant modules fully.
Just a cheap OBD2.
It never gave a check engine light on the dash, just a malfunction error.

You will not get a check engine light as the fault isn't engine related.

As said, it is likely to be a wheel sensor but could be a yaw sensor, steering angle sensor etc.

Eml comes on after maybe 5 or 6 consecutive same faults. I wonder if you get a gearbox light or an abs light when there's a fault with those ??? . Mmmmmm mind boggles !!
