Hi everyone.

Of particular interest to anyone who has a car registered around the intro of Euro 6 and who has been told by (for example) TFL that their car has to pay...

After a lot of research this morning I discovered that my Diesel ML (August 2014) IS Euro 6 despite 5 years of avoiding the ULEZ area or paying the fee...

The problem boils down to two errors on the V5C, one possibly a consequence of the other...

In the emissions section, v: exhaust emissions, section v.5: is for particulates. My logbook shows 1.930

A member on a BMW forum had the same issue.... it is 1000x out, it's a typo - the car would not have passed Euro 4 like that. Grams confused with miligrams?

The entry should read 0.0019

Checking online tables of emissions types and concentrations it is clear that this is an error as no way could my car have ever been homologated if it was 1000x over the limit...

I look forward to checking the COC when I can find it, and also MB offer a letter of euro compliance for £30 if necessary.

Also, the space on my log book next to 'Euro Status' is blank- not surprising with'pollution' levels like that 😅

I look forward to getting my log book amended, free access to ULEZ and similar, and recovering past fees from TFL...

It appears mercedes pre-empted Euro 6 datewise on my car - nice.

So if your car falls before the official date, it may be worth checking your car specs if you have been refused ULEZ.

A key clue for me was in the VIN decoder, I had:
EURO 6 TECHNOLOGY EXHAUST GAS CLEANING

Just admin now...

Hope this helps

We had something going wrong with a brand new CLA180, local authorities couldnt find it registered, I think there was also an incident with the police.

I had a CLK55 years back, the DVLA had it registered with a 54L engine and then one day a new log book turned up out of the blue with it corrected! :)

I heard they were powerful!😂

I had a 4x4 registered as a horsebox.

I found the DVLA very easy do deal with.

At the time if the DVLA altered your logbook you had to notify Tfl and little of no communication between the two organisations

Great post, Richy. So is the VIN decoder option listed as 927, and is your car Adblue?

Hi Mike, yes, option 927, Adblue and s/s technology. One of the reasons I bought this car ( compared to a friend who has a '13 plated Disco) is the lower VED bracket which has already saved me at least a monkey... Now if i can get Euro 6 and ULEZ on top... I'm retired now and this will be my last load lugger prior to my fully electric wheelchair / mobility scooter 😂 I can't see a V6 ICE model anywhere on the net...

Thanks, Richy. So most Euro 6 Mercs are 2015 on, but if it has option 927, earlier models should also be Euro 6, despite the log book?

A V6 wheelchair should make a good little retirement project!

Yes this is my understanding now. Originally I quit at trying to get ULEZ because my research showed euro 6 coming in at 2015 for my car, despite the Adblue and stop start.

My current understanding is that my vehicle was compliant with the rules a year early. No reason at all for manufacturers not to beat a deadline on occasion!

I am not 100% on this yet as I am away from home at present with no access to COC which I think is in my document pack.

I think with the info I have there is a good chance I (we?) are compliant. If all else fails I will pay MB for the £30 compliance letter which will settle things definitively.

Rich.

M272 3.5L n/a wheelchair. I wonder what the bhp/ton ratio would be?

It does not even need to be Euro 6....just needs to meet Euro 6 levels on Nox and particulates......my Euro 5,but compliant and exempt from charges, 212 E350 CDI is an example of this.

What year is your car?

Put your plate in the TFL site....that will soon tell you. Although there are incidents like the OPs one....mostly it is correct. Mine comes up as compliant. But it looks like your NOX is too high to me.... I "THINK" the limit is 0.08. Particulates look OK though.

The TFL site can seem a bit bonkers. Our old 65 plate Fiat Doblo diesel was not ULEZ compliant, but my 09 plate 220 CDI was, as Alpha says it's all about the NOX

I like a visit once or twice a year.....love that hustle, bustle and busy pubs and night life that you just don't get here on the South Coast......but I certainly could not live there and when I do go its on the rattler!!
