Hi Working on the car today. I’ve got a loss of power but does not restrict to limp mode. It’s down on power over 60mph. Can still go past 3000rpm just seems like it’s struggling. Got a P0471. Can somebody give me a price on a new sensor please ? The DPFE sensor I’ve ruled out. Defo the exhaust manifold pressure sensor.
part no: A0041539828.

Nothing wrong with the throttle. Only problem is this exhaust back pressure sensor. The troubleshooting has covered all angles and had in depth scans with freeze frame data for error during test drives. I seen the price for them 2nd hand online but I’m looking for a price new bud. I will just give the dealer a quick call. Thanks for the input and suggestion. Appreciated.

Fault fixed this is my findings:

After fitting the new sensor today. A faulty exhaust manifold back pressure sensor (just beside EGR valve). I was doing some testing with it tho. Once I established new sensor sorted the problem. I put the old one back in for test drives to see what codes the faulty sensor can throw (false positives pointing to other components). Ok it was throwing up errors below. This is in order of how they appeared to begin with and the power loss fault occuring as I have taken the info from a flight recorder mode with freeze frame data for each code.

5 Test drives with faulty sensor fitted went as follows:

1. Loss of power when I hit 60mph but doesnt restrict to 3000rpm. Maybe disables turbo but still gives rpm range.

2. PO2024 (most likely appeared after switching engine off/on during free wheeling - as mine is a manual) - False Positive
3. PO2079 (most likely appeared after switching engine off/on during free wheeling - as mine is a manual) - False Positive
4. P01408 (False Positive)

5. P0471 (The real fault - Positive Fault)

6. P0401 (False Positive)
7. P0403 (False Positive)

So my conclusion after ruling out the DPFE sensor is that the faulty exhaust back pressure sensor can throw those error codes above up on your diagnostics and that includes coming up on a STAR scan. The other codes came up before the actual proper fault code which is P0471. This will send you up the garden path with the troubleshooting because you concentrate on the present codes that come back the most. Although the P0471 states that it can be faulty wiring with the sensor. Its very highly doubtful. Definetely I would say on the C220 CDIs that the P0471 fault is nothing else other than changing the sensor to remedy the problem.

That is my conclusion to this fault. I can imagine with the fault codes this sensor can kick up that garages are prone to change EGR valves, DPF's MAF's and all sorts of components. I spent a lot of time with this today test driving, with faulty part in and live logging enabled just to cover the whole picture with it. Hope it helps others.

hello, did you recall seeing the pressure of the new exhaust pressure sensor on your scanner screen , mine is saying 4458 mbar , even with the sensor removed from the engine and a scanner reset and engine restart it still shows the same pressure.

Im sure i didnt keep screenshots but if i have time this week i will run some scans. On nightshift so not promising anything bud.

I've ordered a new sensor from mb . I'll fit it tomorrow once I have it . I'm thinking mines goosed seeing as the readings stay the same with it in or out of the manifold.

i can confirm part number a0091535028 should see around 981 mbar at tick over , my sensor was telling me 4454 mbar and making the car go into limp mode and kangerooing. £49 sorted . thank the lord . !!!! no turbo needed.

I knew it ! ;) Nice one m8.

Nice one buddy.

Would you be kind and tell me where is back pressure sensor in my car please?

Hey I am at same stage on A180 2015 engine luckily I think the main exhaust pressure sensor is up top.. After replacing the original fault back pressure sensor it's still reading p0470 circuit A sensor fault and now 471..im thinking maybe rear exhaust pressure sensors? Any idea on eps part for Om607 engine?

Post your VIN number and if i dont Check it 1st then somebody else will for part number. Number was also stamped on my old one when I removed it....
