Mercedes C Class Estate
Hi,

Apologies if I have posted this in the incorrect place, but I am after a bit of advice please.

I am buying a two year old Mercedes C Class Estate which has done 8,000 miles. It's currently under
warranty until next July. It's a PCP deal for 3 years The garage have offered a 2 year extended warranty at an additional cost of £1000 so that when the initial warranty is up, I will still be covered for the 3 years.

Would you say that it is worth purchasing the additional Mercedes Benz tier 1 warranty? Or, would this mean that I would have to use Mercedes main dealers for all of my servicing?

I feel a bit nervous about taking a chance with no extended warranty .

Thank you in advance

I would say that is expensive. I have just renewed with warranty direct on my C class (2016) at £22.90 per month.

Welcome.

- Is the seller an MB Dealer? An MB Approved Used car comes with warranty as standard. You can worry about extending it when it expires.

- If the seller is not an MB Dealer, is the warranty that is being offered a Mercedes-Benz warranty? Or third-party warranty (e.g. WarrantyWise / Warranty Direct etc)? Or goes the garage offer its own warranty?

Either way, on a general note, I am not a fan of purchasing extended warranties from the dealer at the time of buying the car. There's a lot to be said for and against extended warranties, but regardless, buying the warranty on the open market is almost always a better option than buying it from the dealer at the time of buying the car. Unless, of course, it is offered for free as an incentive for you to buy the car.

One other point to remember, is that the selling dealer is liable for defects under the Consumer Protection Act, to varying degrees (6 months / 1 year / 2 years / 6 years etc), so when the customer pays good money for a warranty then more-often-than-not it actually protects the selling dealer more than it protects the customer....

I've just taken out the MB extended warranty on my soon to be 3 year old "C" class. Two additional years £713.00 total. Options were one year @ £480 or £40 a month.

Im going to extend mine with MB online. Parts are sooo expensive. Nevermind the labour
