Hi,

I suspect I may have a leak of transmission fluid from the transmission cooler sat just behind the radiator, but not certain. Car is booked in to the garage to take a look. however was curious to know if a warning would appear on the dash in the same way it does for coolant if the ATF fluid level dropped below a certain level ?

Thanks
Mark

I had a W204 for a number of years but obviously can't know if a message would have appeared, because there was no leak....

However, I've never come across such message on online forums or on YouTube videos, and I don't recall there being a oil level sensor in the 7G+ box.

And so, on the balance of probabilities, I would say that the answer to your question is No.

I've had a couple of MB cars with 7g transmission.
The problem with them (unlike the 5g transmission) there is no facility for a dip-stick.
So - You've no easy way of checking if your ATF level is dropping.
Also - It's not easy for a DIY owner to check the atf level on 7g from underneath.

If there is a leak on the OP's atf cooler, that should be obvious with a visual inspection.

I've never read of, or heard of, a level sensor for low atf on either the 7g or 5g transmission.
But - I'm always happy to learn.

Thanks Both - you've confirmed what I understood to be the case.
