Hi all,

As some of you may already know I've just purchased a 2005 Mercedes-Benz CLS350 in black with beige interior.

Unfortunately the car hasn't come with any mats so I'm in the market for a set.

My first question is what colour should I go for black or beige? My seats and most of the dash is beige but the top of the dash is black to go with the heater controls and radio, so black may not look too out of place as floor mats.

Also do I go the genuine Mercedes route or a good quality aftermarket alternative?

Mercedes have quoted me £121 for the beige velour (thicker pile) set, around £90 for a black ribbed style set and around £90 also for the rubber all-weather set.

I have seen two websites which are interesting alternatives:

MERCEDES CLS 2005 - 2011

Mercedes CLS (W219) 2005-2011 Car Mats | Car Mats Direct

What do you guys recommend I do and also anyone with the same interior/exterior combination as me, what did you decide on?

Are there any other companies out there for top quality floor mats?

Do you guys know of anywhere I can pick up genuine Mercedes-Benz mats for a very good price? (I'm also open to purchasing a good condition used set if it saves me a lot of money)

All your help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Hassan

Have you seen Diamond Car Mats. They look very plush. Am tempted!

Hi,
I have a CLS55 and I bought it with a set of black ribbed genuine mats, they were horrible very stiff and the drivers one was damaged. This never worried me as I planned to buy a genuine set of AMG mats for it.
Having then bought my AMG mats I was going to use the old original mats for day to day use but the drivers side one was just so stiff it had actually had a permanent curve in it and would not sit flat, so I decided to look for a second hand set on E-Bay, found a set of rubber ones which I thought I would try out. Since fitting them I have now never used my AMG ones since, the rubber ones are absolutely brilliant very easy to clean, fit perfectly and personally think they look better too.
What ever you decide I think you should go for black in colour as I think it give a very good colour contrast against the predominantly beige interior.

I just run a small rubber mat that sits on the upper half of the drivers' side mat. This protects any wear marks caused by the heel resting on the mat, and it means I can run my AMG mats all year round.

For rubber mats try CarMats4U, naff name bug really good quality.

My CLS came with a set from them (along with the AMG ones) and I bought some for my other half’s SL when she bought that. They also do normal mats so may be worth a look.

If you’re going OEM then Black all the way. I can help thinking lighter colours would stain unless not used day to day.
