Forget the Bugatti Veyron........

Yup this was in my paper this morning ... meant to post about it but forgot!

Price was quoted as £350,000 for the "T" version, and they only plan to build 20 Fighters (of all types) a year.

Ahh - but the Veyron is the stuff of dreams and kids want posters of them. Bristols are unlikely to stir that kind of enthusiasm across the world.

IMHO it looks like a very fast bookshelf or side table.

Still - kudos to Bristol for staying alive in today's market. Must be a big market for drivable furniture. ;-)

Saw this in Autocar the other day ......... Hideous ....

There was a great quote from Bristol MD Anthony Crook in the paper this evening
We've only lost three customers in sixty years, and one of them drove off a precipice.
:D

Well, for me, at least Bristol are consistent. Every car they make is dog ugly  :o

Ah, but when you're driving it, it's not an issue. Just don't look at your reflection in shop windows ;)

If I was stupidly rich, I'd have one like a shot. They're built just up the road from me, so I could get a fitting. Bristols are extremely cool, simply because they're not cool. If you see what I mean....

Spot on. Jaguar are trying to give that impression with the latest ad campaign - "effortless". You know the one with the sexy people walking slowly at what appears to Dracula's dinner party?

Bristol is the new Bentley. Actually it's the old Bentley, beacause the new Bentley is not what the old Bentley used to be. So nouveau riche darling. Old money has to go somewhere, as I doubt many will like the Puff Daddy rep that Bentley has these days.

(See what I did there? "Rep"? I'm down with the kids don't you know. Wicked.)

I thought a rep was someone who came up behind you in 1993 in his Cavalier 2.0 SRi... :D

Probably right but I still want a Cobra :D :D ( I think AC was part of Bristol at one point)

Not so sure. Did AC use a Bristol engine, which was a derivative of the pre-war BMW engine? Was not Bristol Cars a fall out from the old Bristol Aeroplane company which got going using the old pre war BMW jigs such that the first Bristol looked remarkably like the pre-war BMW because it was, in effect, the pre war BMW.
Bristol Aeroplane staggered on for a bit. One of their great exploits was the Bristol freighter, a propeller aircraft with a Guppy look. Freddie Laker used them on Channel Airways, possibly out of Lydd or maybe Southend to Calais, transporting cars and passengers. I remember using them and it was competitive with the exorbitant Ferry charges in those days.
But somebody said they were ugly. Maybe now but the Bristol 401 was a real beauty in its day and even these days it has a special look about it.
And there was the Bristol Bus company- no direct relation to the cars. They specialised in what was known as the Lo-Deka, a double decker with a clever top deck gangway that enabled the bus to be reduced in height.

Definitely agree with the point Bobby Dazzler made about Bentley. Now there is a marque that has lost its class.

Last time I saw him, he was riding in the back of the current Rolls. He's such a brand ho. ;-)

Nice how you slipped "ho" in there bro. Glad to see it's not just me who's hip and happening around this hood. Respect homey.

I can't believe that some diss our wheels, saying Benzes are boring. I'll pop a cap in tho ass if I catch them. Word up. Wicked.

Anyway ladies and gentlemen let's return to topic, and continue to discuss the merits of one of the finest and quintessentially British marques of them all - Bristol.

(See I can cut it in the hood, and in the golf club)

It may have 1000 bhp and cost £350K.
It may even be a very cool marque.
But it still looks like something somebody made in their shed from old capri/escort parts (with a fiesta engine) that would be advertised in exchange and mart for about £1,495.

ehh , id be happier spending the extra half million on the veron and have a better chance of stopping etc from high speed :D
