Hi i have waited for 3 years for a pair of W124 front wings .Well last week one original wing came up on Ebay ,the deal went through and the seller sent the wing with Hermes ,.Tracking number was given ,i tracked it till the Wednesday then it just stoped .So i told the seller, then he got on to them and the wing came next day. Now it came to me with the box looking in good condition and no damage .On taking the wing out it was damaged .The packing was good but the wing must have been dropped from a good hight, and it bent the lip on the wing ,also the box was damaged on the bottom as it stood up ,and no way could i see it .Just to say if you have to post out with a courier please over wrap you items .And send with a good courier.Check them out on Google first as i found bad write ups on there for the one that shipped this wing .Wrap them as if there going to play rugby with it ,then it should get there ok.The wing is going back Wednesday and i should get the cash back then.

The seller is a member here

The nature of a pressed steel panel is such its prone to distortion until its mounted in place. Unless the metal is badly " stretched" or kinked it can be recovered relatively easily by a skilled bodyshop guy. As these original panels are getting so rare I would deffo explore restoration rather than return.

Thanks lads i did think about that repair at a body shop. But all fixed up to go back now .Waiting this moment for the courier to come and pick it up..Fell sorry for the seller ,he did say he wished he had left it in the loft now. But the option is open for him to get it put right .And to sell it on localy to him .. I had this idea that Scott was a member on the forum with a car like his. So we will see if they come to pick it up .The courier is a bit of hit or a miss reading on google.

That damage is so minor it will easily be sorted when the wing is fitted and painted.

A new genuine wing is about £260 retail from MB so if you've made a significant saving I would keep it and repair it.

Thats not bad at all...

I was half expecting a totally wrecked wing....

Wont take much skill at all to fix...

I think after a 3 year wait and if it was alot cheaper than the Dealers, returning it is abit of an over reaction....

I've had lots of problems with Hermes not collecting & damaged parcels, although there cheaper it's not worth the risk. I always use UPS or Parcelforce if sending parcels.

I once bought a Mercedes alloy wheel to replace a potholed one and I caught the UPS driver throwing it over our 2 metre high gates onto our drive. This caused more rim damage than the one I wanted to replace.

Needless to say, it was not accepted and I have avoided using UPS since then.

Hi guys,

Sorry, been really busy at work so not been on much.

Yes, I'm really sorry for Trevor as this has been a complete disaster with Hermes. I'm just waiting to get the wing back and intend to fully refund Trevor tommorow when I'm back in Glasgow.

I know the Head of Customer Service at Hermes through my own work, but didn't want to use my position to influence the outcome, that changed yesterday as their own Hermes customer service team were giving me the run around!

I suspect this wing is destined to go back in attic fir the second time as I actually had someone else buy it then pull out earlier this year!

I intend to have hermes fully replace the wing and thus I hope to re list one damaged and one brand new after that - collection only!

Scott

Good luck Scott your a gent .I could have done just that , and keept it and asked a panelbeater to go to work on it .But by then it was on the way home to you Scott. I thought that you may have thought i may have done it .I can see things better later, but the shock of seeing it damaged ..Just wanted my refund...Trev

Hermes compo is £25 is it not? Though

No, I paid extra to insure the parcel upto £250. I will be claiming the cost of the delivery - £25, the cost of the return £15 and the replacement wing price tbc from mercedes tommorow. I'm happy to raise a small claims court action if they start icing around. I'm well versed in consumer rights due to my own position as a head of customer services for a national retailer!

Let's see what tommorow brings.

They are happy to instantly agree compo, trying to actually obtain it is another matter.
All couriers seem the bl**dy same to me.
I had a meeting at an office block yesterday. Some tw*t DHL driver had his sprinter parked so awkwardly you couldn't get in and out of the carpark, he was doing pickups from two companies. I watched as he literally threw the customers' parcels in through the side loading door from maybe four feet away, he was so blatant I was shocked, and even more so that his customers didn't seem to care.

If you never want to see or hear about your goods again then use Yodel.

If you want them to arrive at your chosen destination as they left you? Package them for nuclear destruction and use anybody but Yodel.
