A Class AMG Line Executive A200d 2019
Hi all,

I have a dashcam hard wired into my W177 A Class. It has been plugged into a socket that has permanent power but it is draining my battery too much.

Can anyone tell/show me where it should be plugged in just so that it is active while I am driving. I am not bothered about losing parking mode.

TIA

Find a fuse position that's not live permanently, but is with the ign on. Stay away from airbag fuses etc. you may find an empty slot if your lucky. Best to buy a 12v test pen to find a switched fuse .

Thank you.

Apologies for revisiting this thread. Please could you send me a link of the kind of test pen that would work? Maybe on Amazon.

Halfords do them. They do a cheap one which will do the job fine, or a really nice one which you will be able to use for years. It’s a really useful tool to have in your toolbox.
Go for one with a small incandescent bulb rather than an led indicator as it will draw a little current which is a better indication that a decent current /voltage is available.

This is the one I bought . The pin could be a bit sharper , but it does the job.

On a w177 a class I’d be looking at testing the 12v fuse location (at 4:22 into the video) to potentially piggy back off.
