Geneva Motor Show 2024 Dates now confirmed: Weds 28 Feb - Sunday 3rd March - booked your day return yet?

Public ticket sales delayed now until mid-January. Five weeks before the event seems crazy.

We know that some manufacturers were being slow to sign up in this new post-Covid, Influencer and Video-led world.... (Let alone the whole EV fiasco)

Have the organisers got cold feet? Or are they just struggling to get their PR ducks in a row?

Little need for a motorsjow these days, within minutes of a car being launched multiple walk around videos / reviews freely available to anyone with a phone.

Little point in spending the obscene stand fee's Geneva charge when the marketing world no longer needs a model to be displayed on show...

However cool it is to see a model in person, makes little to no business sense.

From the point of view of the attendees a show like this is more than just a car show.

I understand your point …..

But I’ve always loved the Geneva day trip.

No amount of videos and walk around will ever make up for the business of sitting in a car and shuffling around all its angles

Nerd-tastic ! And then there’s the people watching thing….

Here's the deal, let's just evolve the physical visit and touch thing....

With things like the Goodwood(s), the Bicester Scrambles, Mercedes World, Gaydon, the brand Museums, Caffeine and Machine, yada, yada....

No more racing new coupes to Geneva at illegal speeds at the very last minute...

I was too young to chase the E Type to its first show, but I did chase the production XJ220 to its first show in Tokyo at the end of 1991. It just happened to coincide with my first test for my new employers Toyota a few days after that....

I agree, I'd love to go. I can just see them soon being a thing of the past. 👍
You’re probably right and it’ll be a real shame but I think they’ll evolve into something better.

Look how busy classic cars shows, Japfest, the Chris Evans thing, etc are nowadays.

Sad, but it’s been a very long time since I visited a motorshow. Tempted but reluctant to book flights until tickets are released.

Ah, but the trade off is flight prices. I paid £100 for the day return, at the right times, in October.

They’ll be a tad more when booking opens…

Classic options pricing problem…

Best not think what the exhibitors, influencers and journalists have had to cough up.

Huge amounts of money is the answer!
I was last there in 2011 promoting this with Johnny. Oddly enough, it was my first day working for this new employer as well, so luckily I was being paid rather than having to pay.

We went many times prior to Covid, early flight from Luton so in the show before it got busy. Would then head into Geneva itself using the free bus transfer for a wander round and a bite to eat. Then either back to the show late afternoon or a flight home. Still have some Swiss Franc's from the last visit in 2019
