The head unit in my JDM '07 ML63 is cheapo-cheapo Chinese Junk from Amazon - Amazon.co.uk
It looks factory-ish when it's switched off, because it's in-dash rather than stuck-on iPad look (which I loathe), and I can live with the fact that it's a touch screen, and the sound quality is probably execrable for those with sensitive ears but I'm by no means an audiophile, and it would do if it worked. However, after a couple of hours of continuous use it decides it would rather jump to the radio for an instant, then back to the track being played for a few seconds, the radio again, then back, and on ad infinitum. Plainly it's duff, and will have to be replaced.
The car came from the factory with COMAND NTG2.0, and still has the HK speakers, including the subwoofer in the load area.
Does anybody have a W164, originally fitted with COMAND, which now does not have a Chinese "Nobody Has Ever Heard Of " brand replacement double DIN head unit with the following as a minimum: SD card or USB input for music (MP3s ripped off CDs - yes, I'm a dinosaur...), Bluetooth for 'phone but not necessarily to stream music, camera input for the OE reversing camera, and either satnav or ideally the facility to display Waze using my phone as a wifi hotspot? If so, could you tell me what unit it is so I know where to start looking? It can be made in China, of course, but by a reputable company.
