That's the first time I've written that, and it still feels a bit weird.

After 11 years of wandering around the forecourts (and forums) of various German manufacturers, I've stumbled into the Mercedes one.

A couple of weeks ago, I traded in my RS 6 Avant for an Obsidian Black E350 CDI Sport Estate and in doing so, banished myself from rs246.com, so I now need a new online home.

I've no idea what the etiquette is around here, so I'll just say hello and wait to see what happens.

Thanks. This is the only pic I have so far, lifted from the MB Used Car Website. However, it shows the car in its most accurate light, I feel. (ie It looks like a pimped-up, blacked-out hearse.)

What`s wrong with that,lol

He he.
Nothing, except no-one ever lets me out of junctions any more, because they think there's going to be a 30-car cortege behind me...

Hi welcome to the forum :thumb:

Hello

I like the look of that :)

Bet you will not missing filling the RS6 up but a lovely car :)

Interesting to see how they compare, what swayed you to the Mercedes?

That is probably the main reason for coming out of the Audi. It's a fantastic car, but for what I used it for (commuting in out and of London) a little overkill. The 570hp V10 meant I was filling it up more or less once a week without really getting to enjoy the benefits of it. Hence my first-ever diesel. Two weeks in and I've still got half a tank left.:)

I'm trying to not compare them too much to be honest, as they're totally different kinds of cars. The Mercedes seems better-built, although it's obviously softer-sprung, which may mean fewer rattles. I do miss the sharpness of the RS 6's steering, and the immediate response I got from the loud pedal though.

My options coming out of the Audi were always going to be German. I thought about an X5 / Q7 / Cayenne / Touareg for a while but couldn't bring myself to do it. The new A6 Avant is still a few months away and I didn't fancy waiting (RS values still being quite strong right now) and I find the new 5 series Touring a bit bland looking, so an E class it was.

Two weeks in, and I'm still happy with my choice.

^ Great

You don't see many estates and I'm biased but they 'Do' look better :)

Agree different cars so hard to compare, I bet you will drive the merc differently though and be more relaxed because of it :) (most quick type audis I see being driven its almost as if they have to prove the point that they are quick...)

Ha!
More single finger steering from me.
Fewer two finger greetings from other drivers.
:D

Are you missing the Skoda, no, Seat *ahem* I mean Audi yet?:D

Either way, you have a very fine looking estate there, with one of the best residuals of any Mercedes....;)

Well my first reaction to that was to get all defensive and think don't forget Bugatti and Lamborghini.
So obviously yes, I am a bit.

"Highgate. You used to live in Mill Hill?"

I did. Just off Mill Hill Broadway.

I know Highgate well. Old memories of my youth.

I've had a couple of Audis and had nothing but bad luck with them..:o

My Dad won't have a bad word said against them though:rock:

I hope the your new car lives up to your high expectations ;)

I reckon I'm in the no man's land between your two camps.
Their dealers are pretty shoddy and Clarkson's views on their drivers are quite possibly justified, but I was quite happy in them for a few years.

Am I going to get banned for that comment?
