w202 c220 cdi what should the temp gauge get up to in traffic and how fast does the electric fan turn i know it turns slow when air con on but it does not kick in like other non merc cars i have driven to all you tech chaps is there a fan switch or coolant temp sensor for the fan the temp todat got to 100 panic panic i have never had this in my previous mercs i feel a problem but if any one has a cdi 2.2 engine then there input will help me sleep and save a bill by the way obc readno codes so the usual no fault ta

100C shouldn't be a problem. The system is pressurised to 1 Bar so it should stand about 120C before boiling.

The fan comes on at different speeds and you are correct, you cant feel it and can only hear it on max.

My w202 c230k hovers around 85 - 90 ish, but in traffic with a/c on it has got to about 105 . Not a problem.

Water Temp

I had similar worries, previous thread indicated the fans are viscous, not on/off type which I was used to and you have same worries.
I fitted new Stat because temp was always sub 80, temp now runs 85-90 all time, with Caravan on back lives nearer 95-100 but seems perfectly happy.
