Help me spec up a new Vito 4x4 190 bhp!

Oi from Norway everyone!

As a travelling salesman doing 30-40.000 miles a year, I have decided to order a new Vito 119 4-matic! 3-seater Van version.

Alot of winter driving and tough mountains here in norway makes it important for me to have 4-matic.

But! I Need your help speccing it up! Must haves , nice-to-haves!

Spend my money but dont waste it please Vito/Viara gurus!

Firstly, not sure how much help I/we can be because, to my knowledge, you would be the first owner of the new Vito on the forum. Secondly, you are lucky in that we don't get the 4-matic option in the UK, old or new shape!

The now old version in Compact (shortest wheel base) did not come with a spare wheel or anywhere to carry it so I would go for Long or Extra-Long if that is still the case. No doubt you have already looked into auxiliary heater, heated seats and heated washer bottle but beyond that, I cannot say because my local dealer still has no sales brochures for the new Vito.

Can you have an auto gearbox with 4-matic? If I was doing 30-40k miles a year that would be the first thing on my list! Plus cruise control, satnav/COMAND, climate control.
Parktronic is always handy too.

As per GVM I have no idea what's standard on a 119 though!

what about the socalled "bad road suspension" and the airmatic is that only rear or front too?

I was very keen on the old V6, but the new Vito has a brand new and VASTLY superior 4-matic system than the old W639 so that sealed the deal for me.

comfort suspension is very good on the new model, don't know if available on 4matic as we don't get that option in the uk

On a bit (okay a large) of a tangent, doesn't this EU thingy mean we can order a RHD 4-matic from Germany and import it ourselves? Wouldn't refusal to supply be contrary to free movement of goods?

It all depends on the design of the individual vehicle - position of steering box etc. There have been 4WD versions of many RWD Mercs. but AFAIK the last one available in RHD was the W124!

I know the W639 was only available with 4WD in LHD. Maybe the W447 is different and was designed to give that option with both RHD and LHD, but I suspect not. The market for 4WD vans in RHD is pretty tiny, unlike the SUV sector.

I think LG2, RK8, M60 and ZG2 and maybe H12 is the auxiliary heater and SB1 is a comfort package…but no matter. Congratulations!
