Hello, I’m a new member to the mbclub forum. I have a 2018 Vito 114 bought 6 months ago from a MB dealers with 67k, now at 105k (38k in 6 months) completely reliable but from day one I’ve complained about the turbo hissing and the van being a little down on torque. When cruising at 70mph on the motorway it is a constant hiss, not overly loud but there. When the van labours or hits an incline it fluctuates and changes tone. Anyone who I ask or take a drive can hear it and is in agreement and one friend suggested as it has a vacuum or boost leak noise this alters exhaust gas temperatures and could lead to a catastrophe down the line...
Frustratingly, I’ve had it into the dealer I bought from twice, then another branch of the same group to see if they would poke into it further and now another dealer. 4 times and not being taken seriously, it just isn’t broke enough yet!
I have a loan van, 114 a year newer with a third of the miles and manual, it has more torque and its hissing noise is normal I’d say for a diesel van, I’d say engine and turbo noise is acceptable not annoying at all, my van noise infuriating so much so I hate driving it and prefer to drive my Citan when I can.
Because it’s not throwing up a fault or a light and generally the van drives spot on the dealers don’t take me seriously! I feel like throwing a turbo or associated parts at it! Any suggestions as to what to do or ask my dealer to check for because drive it til’ it’s broke doesn’t cut it for me! Thanks, Chris.
