Hi all, I’m planning to replace the fuel filter on my 1981 R107 280SL (part #A0024774501) due to misfiring at idle after warming up (~20 mins) and occasional stalling. The issue is intermittent—sometimes it drives fine, but idling long triggers it. I’ve noticed rusty residue in the fuel pump bleeder, pointing to possible fuel system contamination. Spark plugs are clean, and I’m suspecting the fuel filter or maybe the distributor cap/rotor.
Any tips for changing the fuel filter on this model? It’s my first time tackling this, so advice on tools, avoiding leaks, or priming the system would be great. While I’m in there, are there other parts I should replace preventatively? I’m thinking fuel lines, hoses, or the fuel pump given the rust. What’s prone to break in the fuel system of an R107 280SL that I should grab spares for (washers/nuts/seals etc) ? I want to avoid issues down the road.

Thank you
