Hi all looking for a bit of help on fitting some mesh behind the GT grille, where and how have you secured the mesh to the grille, if I do it with cable ties on the outer lip it will not sit flush, want a neat job.

Thanks Rom

I'm thinking make small holes on the edges and cable tie all 4 corners

Mesh fitted! I shaped it to fit snug then used cable ties through the whole grille to hold it in place then lots of dabs of hot glue to fix it solid. Should be refitting the bumper tomorrow.

Sounds secure can you share a pic of where you car tied it thanks 😊

The ties are only temporary and go through the whole grille, purely there to hold the grille in place while the glue set, I'll be cutting them off before fitting.

I'm using plastic mesh - as close as I can get to the OE pattern. I'll be using lots of cable ties, and as the replacement grille is ABS plastic as well as the mesh, this stuff:

It comes in at least black and white colours as well; see lower down the blurb.

The JB Weld adhesive is really good, having used it previously. Wish I could get a Panamericana grille:( Can't find one for an S63 AMG Coupe:wallbash:. Jealous as a jealous thing:mad: Remember the pics to make my jealousy more jealous👍

Thank you, mesh arrived today, will get it done over the week end, going to be using this stuff with cable ties to keep it in place

25ml will that be enough glue ?

Probably not, so I bought two. If I run out, I'll get some more; I won't be taking the front bumper off to fit it until it's finished.

kl, I'd test fit the grille, I had 2 one was a bad fit and other did not fit the badge in the middle. unless you know for sure it fits.

Mesh grille fitted used cable ties along top and bottom edges, good protection from stones and debris also hides the rads and pipes

Probably too late, but I've found the Kwik Weld stuff is not quite as strong as the ordinary 24 hour JB Weld, and once mixed you've got to apply very quickly because it goes off in a couple of minutes, whereas you get more time with the latter. Whether it makes much difference in your application, I don't know, but if buying more I'd go for the 24 hour.

I'm using it for bonding plastic to plastic; I suspect it will be strong enough. I'll just be mixing small amounts at a time, and the makers claim it can be used for 15 minutes after mixing, so I think it will be OK.
