I want to replace the seat covers on my 2004 R230, any idea if it’s possible and idea of cost?

I’m sure they do, I have found a number of motor trimmers locally and await prices.

Replace which seat covers with what new seat covers ??, all 7 seats ?? Leather or Alcantara leather ?? or just like for like, what is like ??

If you’ve found some trimmers they’ll have access to kits specific to your convertible, or raw materials to build something bespoke to taste.

I’m presuming you want standard covers / materials / colours to match all the other trim around the interior.

Why do you want to replace? Why not repair and refinish?

7 seats??? In a R230???
Zoinks !! Scooby confused the R230 (Roadster) with the R350 and R500 (W251 Minivan).

It's not a "Scooby mystery."

I know that Leathercare have a good reputation, but they are in High Legh, Cheshire.

Can anyone recommend an equally good business or two rather closer to The Solent please?

Is an hour up the A3 close enough?

Yes, I want to keep it original, refurb of existing seats is still an option but they look a little shiny, creases that will eventually crack
( yes I’m using leather creams etc). I’ve only just got this car so I’m working on improving all areas of the car, seats are a big feature!

Unless the leather is badly torn and damaged, your best path is to talk to a detailer or trimmer. They can clean and refinish the seats to look like new - without needing new material.

Have a surf around “leather seat detailing” or just talk to your local guys.

I would suggest as mentioned that unless the seats are badly worn, having them restored would be the best option.

Otherwise, probably plenty of R230s being broken for spares - I wouldn’t think a replacement seat(s) would be too expensive and probably a lot cheaper than new covers.

I am following this thread with interest as i too am trying to bring my own R230 back up to snuff ..... I was planning on the restoration route myself, or finding some nice second hand seats ( No luck so far ) ....

I did start (and worked hard) gently cleaning, wiping dry, applying leather balm and final clean off the drivers seat! There was improvement but I’m not sure it was worth it. It’s too flamin cold to do the rest at the mo, car is garaged but it’s not big enough to do work, I have to wheel her out. I don’t have any damage, just those ominous creases that could end up cracking, I will keep on using balm, but interested in replacing or recovering depending on costs. Which area do you live “pioneercollector”?

It sounds like you have done exactly what i have so far done to mine! And my garage situation sounds just like yours .... And my first job when the cold stuff ceases is to give the leather treatment another good go

I live probably not that far away from you, I am in Bath
