Hey,
My car is a W124 E220... However, I don't seem to be able to find the model E220 in UK...
Are the E220s just sold in Hong Kong or what?

My neighbour has one

How come I cannot find a catelogue or some maintenance manuals for it then?
I thought no one would want to buy it due to the small engine... especially in Europe..

No idea about manuals sorry, but there are plenty of E220 about in the UK. I'm sure someone else will correct me but the range seemed to cover (drags mind back to 1987 when people like Belinda Carlisle, Tiffany & Debbie Gibson were 'singing' tunes and Whitney Houston wanted 'to dance with somebody, with somebody who loves me')...

E200
E220
E240 (very good petrol consumption - didn't use any at all)
E260
E280 (not many of these about)
E300
E300-24 (not many of these either)
E320 (or these)

And some of them (the bigger engines) came optionally, with 4-matic 4WD.
Best of the bunch? I'd vote for a 300TE-24v 4-matic, practical uber-wagen, that could see off most of the competition, had the benefit of 4WD and looked exactly likek the diesel version so it wasn't obviously a fast car.

I remember these came with 15" rubber in 195/50 (mibbee). Insufficient rubber to tame the 300E (2wd) power and worse was the computer that decided how hard to apply the throttle when resuming cruise control. Whatever the cruise had been set at previously, the computer always seemed to think it was a necessary requirement to get back to that speed in the shortest possible time. Somehow it managed to do double or triple kickdowns that you couldn't do with your right foot, sending the rev counter into the manually unachievable red zone for what seemed like ages and often sending the back end in any direction including forward (of the front end). What a hoot.

My car is a W124 E220 cabriolet, and before that I had the E220 Coupe.

And I have a workshop manual published by Technibooks. funny thing is, it was printed in hong Kong

I have been looking for a manual for my E200 as well but with no avial  . I have emailed a few ebayers advertising E-class CD manuals to clarify which models are actaully covered and they all start with the E320 :( but the online manual is of some help : here :bannana: I haven't seen any haynes manuals yet but I'm looking for one that at least covers the 4 cyclinder engine if not the E200.

Haynes MANUAL-( Mercedes-Benz c180.c200,c220,c230 and c250 petrol and diesel 1993-Aug 2000 )has details on the 111.941 and 111.945 engines.
ISBN 1 85960 511 7 HAYNES also do a manual on the w124 series up to 1993.

Oh ok... I will put it down as my narrow vision then hehe...
Kikkthecat your manual was printed in HK?
Is it possible for you to give me some info about the manual so I can go about hunting for one?

Thanks,
Jeff

I've got the Haynes manual, which as Grober says, includes the 111 16-valve 4-cylinders. I also have one from South Africa, distributed by Brooklands Books, and available from the MBOA's bookstore. The two together cover it pretty well.
