Im knackered so will add detail on thursday BUT

Its quite a special car, whatever the leather 580A and 581A is its very nice, Ive not see it before.

Car has had a B last week with sparks at £1100  there are receipts for a new back screen at £1k and a nearside suspension leg late 2010 in all its had about £3500 spent in the last 12 months.

Lovely condition BUT until you wash it you dont know do you :o

No locking wheel nut but they gave me a new set of MB ones so I need to get the keyles ones drilled out ?

Bose stereo is MUCH better then the HK in the CLS and I think better then the B&W in the Jag BUT its a much smaller cabin - superb bass

Keyless go button on gearstick scares me - I keep pressing it to go into reverse and cut the engine - what happens if I press it on the motorway ?

Brakes feel spongy but work very well, (serviced 150 miles ago with new fluid) will get them checked again

Has had a Viseo but its gone - I have the manual though :bannana:
Has got 2009 / 10 CD map gen MB

Ok I have to admit (remember I had a CLS for 30 months) the menu in the cluster baffles me, I can scroll but keep pressing the wrong button and for the life of me I cant find a OK / confirm / yes button WHICH is it ?? ie Im in lighting, I go to interior and press + / - and it highlights what I want BUT so far I can go no further it also says PRESS R for 3 seconds to reset - where is R ? will read the manual

Had recent back tyres but ZR not Y - whats the thoughts here ? not spotted at service as bad (noted but not advised as bad)

All lights, seats work - the ONLY fault I found was the glove box does not drop open you need to press the button and pull it, all other cubbys lock / unlock ok

More thursday and some pics of a very dirty car - dry up north - peeing down in essex today

If you press the top of the gearstick in Drive etc. then you get a 'boing' and a red warning to tell you to put it in park. Nothing breaks, nothing stops.

You will learn not to rest your hand on top of the stick and to use both hands on the wheel ;)

Congrats on picking it up. The R button (if I recall correctly is on the cluster itself, it's the button you press in to reset the trip meter, or near that one?)

I know what you mean about the confirm button for the menu options. I think you use the buttons that have the screen icon on them (i.e. the one that you press to get into the menu options). It's a bit fiddly. Whenever I get into the C class now I'm all over the place, for example the volume controls are the opposite way around to that on the BMW

Can't wait to hear more and see the pics :)

Congrats.

The menu took me ages to work out too but the good news is you typically only set it to your chosen settings once. I can't for the life of me remember what button does what now and would have to get the book out to remind myself.

I remember you asking about iphone4 and as you say it had a Viseeo fitted I have a Viseeo MB-2 in mine and an iphone 4 and they pair perfectly.

Oh, and from the for sale pics I think your interior looks fantastic.

Regards,

If you use your key to start the car, the keyless go button won't turn the engine off.

Congrats and welcome to the 55 club! ;)

for the old wheel nuts a socket roughly the size, hammer it on lightly and it should do the job.

pressing the keyless go button whilst on the move wont do anything

tyres are not an issue

glove box prob just needs adjusting.

fyi - southend is a AMG performance center so they should know all the little issues specific to the 55`s and have resolved them,

best of luck with the car, enjoy!

If they are Merc standard locking wheel nut, you will probably find that the workshop keeps a master set in hand.

I was told this after leaving my key out for them and not being able to find it. They pointed out that it was never used, and found the cubby that someone had put it in to be out of the way.

I have found a fault - makes me smile - if you press "open" on the key and point it at the door handle the rood should drop.

On the passenger side it does, not so on the drivers side. I`ll not make a fuss as its a cheap fix but as my indie said only I would notice that on day one :)

Really chuffed with this

Fit a SmartTop module and you'll never notice it again at all :)

if SmartTop means you can operate the hood while on the move, I wouldn't do it.

The roof mechanism is heavy and complex -- would not want to impose additional stress on it by using it with car in motion.

"Can" being the critical word. It also provides other advantages such as operating the roof with three clicks of the lock or unlock on the remote. Single click operation from the switch in the car etc. I read a lot of good and bad things regarding such modules, but only ever the bad from those who've never had one or tried it. Without exception every report I've read of people who have them state what a wonderful addition it is - including me. I've used mine with the car in motion sat in traffic jams. I agree it probably wouldn't be a good idea to crash down a pot hole at the time of operation but used sensibly they're a very useful addition.

There are two main modules. SmartTop is from a US company and costs around $300. The other, that I have, is from a German company called Cabrio DE. Both modules allow:

1. Remote operation of the roof from the key fob.
2. One touch operation from the main switch.
3. Operation on the move up to a user-settable speed (max 40mph).

In addition, the SmartTop module allows remote operation of the windows independently of the roof. The Cabrio-DE module will close the windows when the roof is closed.

I bought my Cabrio DE module directly from them on the weekly eBay auction they hold... This weeks is at...

Mercedes SL R230 SLK R171 comfort roof top module on eBay (end time 27-Feb-11 17:36:54 GMT)

Here's my post on fitting mine: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/1062404-post5.html

Hope that all helps.
