Have you ever had a car (or two!) that you genuinely wish you had never sold - maybe for nostalgia or simply due to values today? Looking through the ads on a regular basis it is becoming quite apparent that I've had a few in the past, ones that are now proving to be an unlikely investment years ago. (not that I had the space to keep them!! lol)

Just a few that I wish I had the opportunity to hang onto -

850 T5R (1995) - one of the first 'manual' (rare) Black estates off the line, was used as their press car. Was running at 300hp and all through the front wheels, mental car at the time!

Mk1 XR2 - second car I owned back in 1992. Sold to a mate and he wrote it off within days!!

C43 Wagon (1999) - had until around 4 years ago, beautiful example which had been restored by a chap running his own classic car restoring business in Weybridge. Sold for 4.5k if I recall, comfortably would fetch 8k today.

Oh and a BMW 325i (E30 / 1985) in diamond black - previous owner was Gary Mabbutt so a collectors item today :p

I have sold one motorcycle in my life that I really REALLY regret selling , but thats another story. I have a gut felling that if I sell my 136K mile C55 AMG estate I will regret that one day too....I also think some days I might one day regret keeping it too !! o_O

Is it galvanised? If so, keep it!

I've had some lovely cars, but no regrets as wouldnt have been able to afford my current e55k.

I had a Manual Gul Yellow 854r 6yrs ago btw ,as i was a Volvo nut for quite some time.

2 sold, one missed opportunity.

Civic FD2 - a screaming nutcase of a machine. Sold because sooner or later I would have killed myself in it, you lost all self-restraint the moment you prodded the start button.

Ducati Multistrada - With no longer commuting to Oxford and partner working away during the week, it wasn't getting used so I put it up for sale on the premise I'd buy another when the situation changed. 3 months after it sold, partner got a job close to home. That was 2 and a bit years ago. :fail:

Missed opportunity - as a callow youth in my late teens with a shiny new motorcycle licence, I had the opportunity to buy my uncle's tidy Laverda Jota for £1200. Dad said there was no point as I couldn't insure it at the time, and discussions of him insuring it until my 2 year restriction passed fell on deaf ears. Fast forward a decade, and they're now worth ten times that. I remind him of this every time he comments on any of my vehicular choices.

Purely from a financial point of view,
Mk1 VW Golf GTI
followed by
Ford Escort RS Turbo Mk1 Custom
followed by
Sierra Cosworth RS500

oh well.

Supposed to be Galvanised as it is one of the last ones made...still not stopped a bit of tin worm showing its ugly head. Pi$$ poor for a car that cost £50K new in 2006. It’s my daily drive so I’m not too fussed about it.

Ouch, that's some serious machines (& cash!!) right there

Doodle - love your Civic :thumb: I had one of the first Accord Type R's off the production line in 1999 and absolutely loved it!Black Type R.jpg

Audi ur-quattro.
TVR Tuscan.
BMW 2002tii
BMW E36 m3 evo
BIKES.
Kawasaki H2 triple.
Benelli TnT 1130

All done by the time I was 25 as well! And I bought a flat.

The Cosworth got nicked so I chucked my toys out the pram and f****d off travelling and working as an 18-30 rep for 3 years!!

The funny thing is that back then they were just simple and fast cars. Nothing really that special.

yes, it's amazing how much they have appreciated in value during the past 5 years - power of hindsight would be a wonderful thing!

Have someone coming to see my TVR on Sunday, but as I've spent a fair few pounds on it in the 9 years I've owned it I'll regret i once it's gone.

I had an R plate Chimera bought second hand followed by a brand new Y plate Tuscan.

1995 Impreza Series McRae. I actually disliked it back then, and only kept it around 5 months before trading in for a Celica GT4, but it was No.57 of 200 made, and not many of them survived for long! Saw one recently sell for more than I paid for mine all those years ago.

I don't reret selling any of my previous cars as the next one has always been an improvement.

The Sapphire Cossie I had back in '98 was astonishing at the time I owned it, but looking at them now both internally and externally, they are ancient.
I went on to a W210 E280 that was positive luxury compared to the Ford.

I may come back to this thread again though when the E55 finally goes. It is going to be so hard to replace.
