SL 500
I was watching this auction and really wrestling with my inner demons...... I even toyed with the idea ( If it sold for a cheap enough price ) of seeing if my SL500 could be converted into an SL63 of sorts!!

The only thing that put me off joining in the foray was the V12 aspect - I have only owned two V12 cars in the last 40+ years, and both proved to be troublesome ....... But 1000NM of torque..

What a lot of car for £15k !!

So many mad cars, so little cash to but them all !!!!

Lovely motor, a hell of a lot of car for the money!
Personally the Brown interior doesn't bother me at all. 🙂👍

It is most agreeable.

That interior is very plush. That era of luxury Mercedes still had the detailed door push locks which were replaced in later models with the thin black plastic ones as a cost saving exercise.

while I'm not a fan of the interior colour, there is no disputing that it's a lot of car for the money.
Deep pockets required to maintain it though!

Well the brown leather is not for me and it would seem only one key, upkeep will be expensive even if it is a high days and weekend summer car.

Not quite the same as mine is the coupe version of the prior model (CL65). I have to say that it is a delight to drive. Mine just turned 35,000 miles.

I like the way it is photographed in front of a double garage as if it would fit in there.

The only other S 65 was exactly the same specification inside and out, and was for sale from a trader in Birmingham for a very long time, despite being £15k. Having more than 200k miles on the clock put people off. I wonder whether this is the same car?

Mine? It would fit in there if one of the other cars wasn't in there. It lives in my hobby shop about 60 miles from the house. I have it down for the annual Inspection

Looking on my phone it's okayish. Looking on my PC with a good monitor, and the interior is not in good shape. Grub, scuffs, scratches, blotches and wear everywhere. Moist looking patches apparent. Some of the damage to the leather (not the seats) might be repairable, but I wouldn't be taking the chance. I'd rather pay the same money on a sorted S63 with a near perfect interior.

Agreed, first impression is excellent - glorious exterior colour - but then you wonder about the interior grubbiness, scuffs, and damage that you wouldn't expect on that mileage of car.

Colour of the interior? Not great if you're into wearing Brown Around Town.

Buy for rarity, but there "ought" to be better around at the price this thing is heading towards.

That said, I know exactly the type of enthusiast that would love to buy this and gently improve while driving 3k a year.

Buyer beware. comments regarding the interior being rough and dirty makes me think that the chances of the more being two S 65 in exactly the same interior and exterior colour combinations - both with dirty and damaged interiors - are exceptionally low. The “other” one had over 200k miles on the clock in around 2018/9.

It could be a different car, but it might be the same one. Inspect it very very very carefully to make sure that it’s everything you expect it to be.
