- W218 CLS350cdi + Repsol Honda Fireblade.
After an Audi shaped diversion for a few years the Merc bug bit again this time with a 2012 CLS 350cdi in Paldium silver.
Test drove a 250 and 350 back to back, 250 lovely with lower mileage and slightly cheaper and went well but blimey I wasn't expecting the 350 to go quite so well. It was as the sales guy grabbed the arm rest and braced himself on the test drive and the other half shouted "David!" from the back I realised this was the one for me. In my defense the sales guy did say "It does have a sport mode" which I took as an invitation rather than an interesting fact.
Anyway, now I've bought the car and experimented a bit I'm wondering about the traction control or EPS as I should say.
It seems quite willing to break traction on a damp road when being a bit silly with the throttle to the extent that I had to use the almost forgotten art of opposite lock. Don't remember this happening in my old SL which had less weight and more power and certainly didn't expect it from a sedate looking saloon. Bitter sweet really as I like the fact it's got some poke but concerned that it won't save the day in an emergency situation (not self induced
)
Does anyone else find they get quite a lot of wheel spin pulling away briskly from a junction before the traction control kicks or am I just expecting too much from the electronics?
