Instrument cluster R129

Hi,

I am new in this forum.
I live in Australia and have a 1990 300SL 24, 4speed Auto [129061-2F-011807]
This car has the first version instrument cluster with an analogue Km odometer.
I would like to find out if a replacement digital type would work in my car.
When I look in my EPC there is no replacement number available - only 129 540 70 48.
Anyone has experience changing to digital.
Have tried an analogue W140 cluster, it fits, plugs are the same but some functions don't work.
