Clk 320 Rag Top
Hi All,

So I took my car to the main dealer as I have a faulty instrument cluster (completely dead, drained the battery over night as the ignition lights where on) dealer said its a common fault with older models. They have said that I need a replacement one or get mine re-soldered.
I’ve seen a few for sale on eBay etc, does anyone know if it has to be the same model car I have to put in? I have a 320 CLK 2003 Rag Top. Could I use a 330CDI 2003??
Thanks
Nick

The instrument cluster needs to be programmed to the car. It will not just work as it needs to be coded with the EIS and ECU.

have you fully charged the battery and taken it for Drive? I had a similar issue on mine due to low battery. It started working again after a full charge of the battery and a 30 min drive. It did not work just after a full charge, needed to be driven.

There are a few places that can repair the cluster for you if that is at fault.

Yeah it’s been happening for a while but this time it flattened the battery overnight. Plus MB told me what the issues was after handing the car overnight.

Same 2nd hand part number and resoldering the chip is one route (Searching google/ youtube may find some info), then no programming needed.
Another way is get handy programmer to 'virginize' old 2nd hand cluster and then perform fully intialization by SDS.
Last chance is get a new one €€€.
