Inspired by the post below ....
I’ve had my C43 estate since December and in February noticed a varying pitched whining noise which was diagnosed as the rear differential bearings so the whole diff was replaced under warranty. 6months on and another whining noise is back-1300mile round trip to Germany showed:
-whining starts at 40-45mph and peaks at 85, after which it changes to a vibration which can be then felt through the steering wheel
-predominantly happens under acceleration and is worse with more load e.g. accelerating up an incline
-worse point was at 110mph climbing when the side mirrors were vibrating and a bottle of water in the centre console noticeably shaking and severe shaking through the steering wheel.
-it’s not consistent though e.g. at one point travelling on autobahn at 152mph and no vibration or noise
Took it back to the MB dealer who couldn’t replicate the noise, couldn’t find anything mechanically wrong so they re-balanced the wheels on chance. 300mile trip to Devon yesterday showed the whining is still there, not as bad but couldn’t test at really high/consistent speeds for obvious reasons! The tyres are 19” Michelin PS4 all round run at 38psi on all 4 wheels and all in good order.
Help please-it’s doing my head in!
