E300 td tomtom sat nav in car dvd
e300td 5 speed auto box electronic, had A.T.F. changed mid jan 04 62000 on clock, when cold and the car first moves off and slips into second it kinda pauses holds back for a moment then in it gose smoothly no noises, but kinda rocks little and the same into 3 =rd but then nothing in 4th or 5th slips into these gesrs fine all this with gentel acceleration, if i give it harder acceleration not as noticable, seams to ease after engine warm, i don;t know how smooth the changes are surposed to be, is this ok , or is somthing lurking ,

HI Mark,

Mine's the same,(1997 240 with 68k, original ATF). I believe the gearbox controller holds onto the lower gears longer than normal when cold in order to get the cat. up to temp that bit quicker.

I think you mean that although the changes are smooth you can feel the car hold back during the change.
If this is the case then it's normal as the engine power is reduced during changes and low power changes are more slurred to make them smoother.

big thanks

thanks to nickmann, Dieselman, you have put my werrrring mind at rest, god these mercs give me the heby gebbies sometimes, :bannana:
