MERCEDES SL500 2002 CONVERTIBLE BLUE BARGAIN L@@K on eBay (end time 26-Mar-10 10:15:24 GMT)

After initial contact through ebay the seller won't respond to emails asking questions about service history, condition, MOTs etc nor answer the phone nr which he provided. This is permanently switched off. Anyone know of the car ? interior needs a clean and from the pics the backs of the seats look filthy, with no front seat pics. Wonder why ?!

Classic case of caveat emptor methinks. No VIN or reg nr to check history with Merc either.

maybe; its very cheap.

however if you bid and win it, you can then request all the relevant details - if its all legal and above board buy it, if not just walk away.... no one's going to force you to pay the guy.

It has no tax therfore one can assume it has never had a penny spent on it when needed.. one to avoid also...

Yeah, some 'pride and joy'

Its currently got 20mins left and is very very cheap. Even with the list of negatives. The seller has been upfront. Never assume.

Went for £12600 !!

£400 for the lights, £200 for a proper interior clean and connolise (seats are 2nd hand) possibly no Merc history or mileage proof, CAT D, poor seller comms.... zoiks !

At £10k it was worth a gamble.

Seller wouldn't answer my specific q's

Are there any faults aside from those listed.

Do you have old MOTs

Is there any Merc s/h

He bought it off a mate who bought it from Norwich union apparently.

Silly point I guess, but is it just me that gets fed up with bad spelling everywhere? Read through that ad - it's atrocious! :( Why don't people just run a simple spell check, especially when trying to sell something!

Lack of attention to detail - no excuse when trying to sell a car like this.

Even my Russian wife makes sure her English is bang on when selling anything on Ebay! :D (helps that she's a translator! :) )

I quite agree. One can come over all huffy and puffy about the decline of written English, but the company I used to work for voted with its feet and started hiring EU graduates over English ones, as they could actually spell and write grammatically. The Italians have a term of total contempt for such people - maleducato, and I know precisely what they mean by that term.

well worth a pop...local indy to check /inspect (£50) , verify the HPI online(£10)....gotta be bargain if it was a genuine sale...make sure its not a ringer and u get a big smile for little money...

You'd think so - if the seller would give you the reg or VIN or allow you to actually view the car..

just looked seller has 100% feedback ....be interesting to see if that remains as the ebay bid has been accepted...

So true! My wife who is Russian and learned English at school, not even as a second language, speaks and writes better English than most of the British people I know!! :D
