Hi all.

A bit of an odd one. My w212 (E250) has been running fine for the past 10 years. No issues what so ever. The battery was the original one and was on its way out. Came to change it today and some really odd things have happened. The window washer motor will not stop, even with the keys out and the car locked up. I get a PRE-SAFE inoperative error message , however the car starts and drives fine. I have no idea what’s happened as it was working fine on Tuesday. It’s now Thursday and this has happened only after changing the battery. Has anyone got any ideas as I’m totally stumped.

Also the battery is a like for like swap.

When I was about to replace the battery in my C207 (W212 coupé) I was adviced
to do it this way:

1. Window on driver side fully down.

2. Open hood (to where the battery is located).

3. Lock the car. Move the keyfobs away (if Keyless)

4. Wait some 20-30 minutes for car to go to sleep-mode.

5. Replace the battery, disconnecting (-) first, then (+)
and reconnect in the opposite way.

Then unlock and start the engine, etc.

If done properly, all system goes to sleep mode
in a controlled manner. All calibrations (windows, sunroof etc) unchanged.

(If problems: Door can be opened since the window is down. Transponder in key
should work.)

You could try this but only lifting the (-) connection...

Hi

Had a million things on this week and this car hasn’t helped. It won’t even start now. I’m at a loss now. I was going to bite the bullet and drive it to the dealer.

How did it go at the dealer? What did they found out was wrong?

Just of curiosity, have the same car and model and i changed my battery a fews weeks back. But no problems so far, just afraid some might come up.
