I am having problems with the above, it is installed on the PC, Oracle says it is there and working, but the sites I go on tells me to enable Java, which I have done. Comes up with v3/ is not recognised author by Windows and wont let me into the sites. I play cribbage on line. My system is windows 8 and IE10. Tried Firefox and it doesn't work on that either.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, maybe they are under attack again, maybe I'll leave it for a few days.

Problem now resolved, uninstalled Java version 7 and reinstalled version6. I know it is a bit risky with older versions, but I wonder if there is a conflict with Windows 8 and Java Version 7. This all started with a scheduled update from Java

Java 7 revision 21 works fine on my Win 8 setup.

I always wonder how crap java and adobe actually are. They are always updating themselves due to security issues. Could they not have started out with a secure design?

Everytime I turn my laptop on it asks me to do a java date and every time I go ok. It fails.

I have that one.

I also get it when Java AND windows try to update and tell me. Works one way fails the other.

As for the crib site which one is it my dad plays online crib.

If the update fails, remove Java completely from ADD/REMOVE / PROGRAMS AND FEATURES and re-install from java.com

There were a few crappy versions throughout at least 6 I remember.
