Just bought a mid rise scissor ramp

As per title, finally got myself one. Much better to be on your knees than back! But I'm getting greedy and wanna go that bit further and be able to lift the car a little higher. So to do that, im looking for ideas to give the car height after it is at its max height. Any advice?

Nice , when you have finished putting it together and used it let us know how you get on . I am making progress getting my garage cleared and the new floor laid.
Dimensions of lift are the most important to me as I am a little tight on space.

Lidl over here are doing a crawler and seat combo for scissor type lifts. Dunno about the quality but very reasonably priced and might be suitable for you?

Cheers man, may be will look in to that later on. Priority just now is to be able to get extra height

Extra height ? how about a few decent pieces of timber placed in appropriated places in and around the lift ?

The only way to get extra height would be to either mount the scissor lift onto some form of platform, which would have to be pretty strong, or some blocks between the lift and the car.

I use these rubber jack pads with mine, purely to avoid damaging the sills or any pipes, not specifically for height: -




Not cheap but strong and able to take the weight comfortably. I have a set of 1" ones for the Merc and 3" ones for other bits and pieces though wouldn't like to go much higher than that. Bear in mind that you'll probably have to jack the car up before you can put any blocks in place...

How high can you/are you hoping to get with these? I had been looking into QuickJacks but not sure they will give me enough height to work comfortably under the car.

You are pretty much still going to need to use a crawler but I can understand wanting to get it just right by not having to work with either arms bent or stretched out . Or this

Thanks for all the help guys. In the end I opted for thick strong timber under the chassis points. that should allow that little extra height for comfort

I invested in one of these for my cars and find it brilliant. Strong enough to lift anything but small and light enough to lift and store vertically against the garage wall. You have to watch the tilting function as too much tilt combined with wax on the underside and car can begin to slide - but you don't make that mistake twice. It's strong and stable and because it's mechanical and not hydraulic it stays at the same height for months.
