Presumably this is a policy which explicitly denies use for commuting, does not accrue "no claims" and has a low annual mileage cap?

If so then bargains to be had I'm sure :)

yup.. 1500 miles as thats the lowest mileage limit they will go lol.. with Peter Best..

He really is the best..

Im putting the car in the garage for a month whilst in Oz.. all wrapped up like a baby.. well more like keeping the heating moderate in the room..

ah im gonna miss Emmy... :(

on my others.. i have tesco & priviledge.. they are very competitive.. Yaris on the Tesco policy is £220 with £200 excess.. this one just feels like a rip off for a car worth pennies lol

£450 for both MB and Saab - with £250 excess, through Admiral's multi-car policy. Seems OK to me!

£478 with £250 excess, 15k miles per year business class 1. Fully comp protected no claims etc.

Thanks IAM !

An agreed value of £32k :D

Dont you need to get the cars value confirmed by someone?

But the Yaris is such a good car to drive is it not? That lovely velour erm nylon interior. Its no surprise insurance cost is going to be high.

Read the small print, the agreed part is for the purposes of premiums.

In the event of a total loss you'd have to demonstrate by way of recent historical sales of similar vehicles that is indeed the value of the vehicle, that's where you generally hit the problems, in so much as they require a completed sale (i.e. a classic vechicle auction) rather than "There are 3 for sale on Auto Trader" gov".

It is also your responsibility to prove the vehicle is worth what you say rather then the insurer to prove it isn't.

A valuation certificate from an independent specialist is considered an indication only and is still only a guideline whilst proof of sales are sought.

It makes sense of course, otherwise any old Jasper Smith insures a Mini Metro for £25,000 which then goes missing 3 months later.

(Many years ago I used to work in this business).

i thought "agreed value" after having prooven it via member club /independent valuations etc etc meant that a payment in event of total loss would be the agreed value with no hassle whatsoever regarding its value....

otherwise, whats the point? you may aswell not bother and then if you have a loss, proove it by recent sales etc etc....

I'm with esure, I paid £360 for fully Comp with a mileage of 5,000 9 years NCD. My C180 Valued at a pitiful £1500... I also get a courtesy car and Glass cover. Oh and £250 excess..

Golf: £650, £250 excess with 4y NCB via HIC/Adrian Flux. £4500 agreed value, 6K limit.

I agree with the above, I think Mudster is wrong on this.

Normally, it is 6 recent quality photos required and/or a valuation by a club official in writing.

Have got my agreed value doc right here and it seems fairly clear cut - they have agreed (after I sent in photos of all 4 sides, interior and engine bay) that my car is worth a minimum of £4500 and this amount (minimum) will be paid out upon bending it round a tree/finding it alight in a field.

I've read right through it and other than the usual confusing legalese (which I'm semi-fluent in) doesn't seem much room for them to turn around and offer less, providing of course I didn't lie to them when I took the policy out.
