CLC 180 Kompressor
Hi all.

My dad has a CLC 180 Kompressor and today the fob stopped working (would not lock / unlock doors). Used the emergency key to get into the car and alarm went off. Put key in ignition but would not turn. Tried wiggling steering wheel, but still would not turn. Alarm will not turn off. I managed to get into the boot and change fuse 8 but key fob still not work. I tried holding down both buttons on the fob for 6 seconds, that did not work. Tried holding the lock button with key in ignition, then removing whilst still holding lock and pressing open 5 times before releasing lock - that did not work either.

I have just seen this thread on the forum https://forums.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics-and-audio.14/post-thread which seems an indentical problem, so I will be calling a key company out in the hope it is just a key programming issue.

Just wondering a couple of things

1) anyone know of a good key company to use?
2) could this possibly be anything else - like car battery really low?

Possibly the EIS (electronic ignition switch) is faulty. Not unheard of on these models. We had this issue when the car was still under warranty. Dealer insisted on ordering 2 new keys even though it was pretty obvious that would not solve the problem as neither key would work.

I had a similar issue recently in my 2003 SL and it was the key. I had no spare so couldn’t move the car and called a key specialist out. They were brilliant and sorted two new keys for me.

I’m near Brands so no good for you?

Cheers that's what I am hoping. If you check the link in my original email the other guy had the exact same model and year as my dads one!

No not that close, but who did you use out of interest? Are there any good National companies?

It happened to me. One day key worked perfectly. Next day, totally Kaput.
