I have every sympathy for him. I thought all that pap hounding had been called off by the tabloids after Princess Di.

He's gone from being a nobody to being a worldwide celebrity in a few months and now is trailed by the paps wherever he goes. He can live anywhere he wants & doesn't need to make up excuses for doing so.

Just had to duck to avoid his nose. He is using the media like a professional and when it does things he doesn't like, he throws a tantrum. :)

Just like most other top Formula 1 drivers he is off to pastures green (tax haven).

Can't blame the guy,he earns a few quid so why not shoot off to somewhere with a bit more class.Gotta be better than paying a shed-load of tax just to feed the poncing scum and low-life that seem to be forever holding out there hands over here.

Single bloke, money coming out of his ears. Monaco or Stevenage? Decisions, decisions  :D

John

think this should get a vote,me personally he's gone for the tax reasons,i'd be gone in his situation

It's tricky isn't it? Low tax, nice weather, no crime, less Paparazzi, decent restaurants and his mate Dave (Coulthard) as a neighbour.

You of all people John should know the qualities Stevenage has to offer:crazy:

There always has to be a down side  :D

Heathcote Secondary Modern rules okay:D

Ahh, but you don't have to live in Monaco to avoid paying income tax. You simply have to own a flat and spend a certain amount of time there. You can easily live in London but be a Monaco resident for tax reasons. Most of the properties in Monaco are empty most of the time.
He isn't going just for tax reasons.

I doubt if he is going just for tax reason either, but that would be a big draw.
Loads more high fliers in Monaco so he would be a smaller fish in the sea as far as reporters are concerned.
Most of the year round it's sunny across there (as it is here) and, being pretty central, many other EU countries are right on your doorstep.
A UK expatriate can still visit the UK 180 days a year and not incur an tax liabilities if they are not working... still allowed to go to project meetings etc.
Given that he is probably away 6 months of the year anyway that won't be too hard to run with.

Monaco
Great weather most of the year, avoid tax, load of reporters hanging around ......

UK
Iffy weather most of the year, pay tax, dodge reporters each day you leave your house... :(

Not too hard a decision and pretty much the same reasons I live in the Algarve except I'm not newsworthy it seems :D

If we all took a deep breath then we might realise that the first lot of pictures were taken in St Tropez? definitely a good reason for leaving the UK. The next lot were indeed taken in this country but we are talking about a young man who has milked the media for all its worth. He has done anything and everything to get publicity and has now realised there is not a switch. You cannot switch on this hype and then switch it off when the mood takes him.

Ellen MacArthur is perhaps someone he can learn a number of lessons from. she used the media to get the required publicity, but she never milked or took advantage of this circus, Hamilton wants to grow up and stick to what he is very good at.

Intrusion my ****. Not having to pay income tax is the real reason for moving to Monaco.

You have hit the nail on the head, HE WILL HAVE NO ALTERNATIVE thanks to Gordon Brown.

Didn't he expect this? F1 is the pinnacle of motorsport. He is one of the country's top sports people. He stands a good chance of winning this year's F1 (apparently). Of course, everyone wants to know about him.

He's had his wrist slapped by Ron Dennis and he is just lashing out. Does it really matter where he lives and does anyone really care? I enjoy watching him drive a Formula 1 car and don't give one fig about who he dates, or goes on holiday with.
