Hi all.
Hope your all well, thank you for letting me in your forums.
I'm no mechanic, just a proud idiot botcher. who likes getting oily and sometimes getting things right.

So I've been working on a C220 CDI w203 2003 2.1, that has developed a problem almost overnight.
when the car is in idol it revs up nice. pop it in reverse/drive and it goes into limp mode and wont rev over 1k RPM and theres no power to move the car.
but sometimes the car will move off and drive nice for a few mins <4mins and then it loses its drive altogether and need to be pushed or towed.
If the car has been off for a while, I can start it and limp it back home.

things I've checked so far:

Wiring to the transmission control unit (TCU).
no oil contamination in the pilot bushing/ transmission connector.
changed the transmission oil and filter.
swapped out TCU with another one.
I'm considering changing the conductor plate.

the car isn't throwing up any codes. My gut is telling me it could be a vacuum/pressure related problem but have no idea how to diagnose this.

wondering if anyone may be able to offer a bit of insight.
thanks for your time
dave
