Random w116 musings from my yoof ........
Back I the very early 1980's my dad had a somewhat lovely Maroon 450sel.
One of my earliest memories at the house I was bought up in (the house I now own and live in) was the rear bench seat in that distinctive beige cloth that most vintage mercs come with, from the w116 flying through the air after my alcoholic nan managed to pi££ herself on it !
Also the time I saw the car in the school car park so climbed in the back to see a random Chinese man in the driver's seat, cue about 30 seconds of weird awkwardness.
But the best one was the look on my best mates lower middle class snobs parents faces when I was dropped off at their house in a proper S Class Merc that cost more than their house when they assumed that my family were working class oiks

Rather nice that! I have my 116 for sale (gold, 68k). I don't want to sell it, it's such a nice car, unfortunately I am loosing the ability to store it.

Back in the late 80s/early 90s I took one in PX against and brand new Audi....since it nearly had a full tank of fuel I smoked it around for a few days. Lovely old beast....as long as you ignored the chocolate brown paint and matching interior!.....oh and the HUGE steering wheel!
