Just managed to download this film, which I've been after for years! Loads of Manta's (love em,had a few) and a bodykitted 190 star in it. All in German of course, but a great way to waste an hour and a half -80's big hair, lairy colours and amazing cars!

Spot the deliberate mistake with the handbrake...

I had a 2.2 engined,400 kitted,RAC logbooked harnessed,rollcaged beast when I was 19.. Then I discovered girls. (I was a late starter...) Next car: 903cc Fiat Uno.

Here is a bit more.. kinda gives away the ending though...

I loved Manta's growing up, what beat it was the Ascona! If I had the money and the garage i'd buy one in a minute.

Think it all started with my dad's Manta series A, looked exactly like this:-

Love Ascona's too, first car was a Mk1 Cavalier 2 door, which I grafted an entire front end off an Ascona.. 2 door Ascona's are like hens teeth in this country! There's just something that makes Opels far more desireable than Vauxhalls!! Had an old Senator A too.. great old barge!

Once drove an Opel GT, and was amazed by those headlamps, big lever on the console to manually swivel them.. kept me occupied for ages.

This subject just got me thinking back to my teens, all the older guys were running about in Mk1 Astra GTE's / Kadetts SR's.

One of the guys has a replica Manta 400 in white, had it on the road about a week after getting it painted and wrapped in round a lamp post!

Over the last few years i've looked on ebay for Ascona's and as you say very rare.

The good old Senator's, they were some machines, remember the Monza's!

I've spent all evening being 18 again! I never bothered with XR2's XR3's etc.. RWD all the way! I was "drifting" before "drifting" was cool. LSD you see...

I thought the handbrake wheel spin was a nice one lol

LOL, yeah.
I had an old 83 Carlton for a while.. it was slow. I had a brainwave one day to fit an extra screenwash bottle in the boot, route pipes out either side, through drilled holes in the wheelarches, and washer nozzles to spray bleach on to the tyres. Everyone thought it was a V8 with the smoky burnouts I used to do... Ahhhh they were the days...

Surely not while driving?! ;)

Always had soft spot for the original Manta, which I saw as a kind of poor man's Fiat Dino Coupé. Surely Chuck Jordan must have drawn inspiration from Bertone.
