map updates / any way to get android auto to work ?

hi everyone

just purchased 66 plate e class 220 d, which I love loads of nice upgrades on like hyacinth red paint cream leather interior panoramic sunroof keyless entry start , but most annoying thing is im not a fan of the sat nav it works of sd card is only 2016 and Mercedes say £100 to update is there a cheaper way I do see on ebay sd cards for 2019 for about £30 would these works

I hate the way its blocky when zooming in or out I would rather use google maps or waze but there is not the facility for this is there any update that would all android auto to come up on screen any help would be appreciated thx

Have you tried this to update the maps, it worked for me.

I have the garmin map pilot system in my 2016 A class which has the Maps on the SD card, brought the car a few months back.
I have updated the maps twice now the completed the latest V14 2020 maps last night.
If you register on the MB website and install the download manager from the MB site as well,

Collection Site - United Kingdom

If the firmware needs to be updated you will automatically get free map updates for a period of time.

This is what I did and it has worked so far.

Register on the MB website and install the download manager (link above)
Insert SD card into laptop or PC
Open the program and log in
The download manager will tell you if you have any updates
It will update the firmware first
Remove SD card and insert it back into the car
Let the system update
Once completed (in the car) remove the SD card
Insert back into laptop
You should then be able to update the maps

hi carl38 thanks for your reply I did all you said and the programme updated the software but not the maps when I put card back in it says there are no map updates for this card so im at a bit of a loss now I feel a bit let down ive bought a car and I know its only a 66 plate with sat nav that is 3 years out of date the salesman quoted me £100 ive also noticed that I cant get live traffic updated as theres no subscription got you everyway

Hi, if you have updated the firmware on the PC put the card back into the car, start the car and let it initiate the update, once this has finished put the card back into the PC and it should allow you to update the maps.

That’s strange, it worked for me, I have updated my maps twice now.
