Mercedes-Benz Zetros 6X6

Here is the Mercedes-Benz Zetros 6X6 truck, two of which have been specially built for a couple of customers in Mongolia.

The trucks have already been delivered to Ulan-Bator, the Mongolian capital, to two businessmen friends who would like to use the vehicles for weekend excursions into the wilds of Mongolia for hunting and other off-road activities.

The two Zetros' feature extreme luxury amenities such as a bathroom with heated marble floors and two large flat-screen TVs - one for the sleeping berth and one for the seating area.

Aside from the bedroom, other luxuries include an on-board generator, a shower, a safe for valuables and a gun-safe for the hunting firepower.

On the outside are four spotlights mounted on a roof carrier, flashlights in red and blue mounted on the radiator grille, with spot lights for the rear as well, lest things get too creepy out there in the dark. There's a lift that can help load cargo onto that roof carrier too.

As for the power-train, the three-axle truck comes with three mechanical differential locks to help handle all that rough terrain for the 25-tonne Zetros. Power comes from a 7.2 liter in-line 6-cylinder engine with an output of 240 kW (326 PS / 322 bhp) and 1300 Nm (959 lb-ft) of torque.

Two transmissions are on offer, with the G 131-9 nine-speed manual box as standard and a six-speed automatic as an option.

Unfortunately, there are no available photos of the interior.

That's not much for lorries. Bear in mind it will be at about 1200 revs and peak power will be about 1800 revs.

List price?

If you have to ask, you can't afford it!

So, you thinking of something slightly more comfortable for your next desert trek? lol

Sounds a bit wimpy to me, put one of these in it.

Scania has raised the bar in the truck engine power stakes, trumping Volvo's biggest engine size by introducing a revised 16.4-litre, V8 range with a new Euro-6-ready range-topper of 730hp and 3,500Nm.

The recently revised OptiCruise transmission is capable of handling the massive torque output with single reduction hubs, and Scania says that where the old 620hp V8, for example, should be geared to cruise at 1,200rpm, the 730 will be happy at 1,000rpm. "

Now that's some serious torque, enough to pull a few tree stumps out I reckon.:thumb::D

That truck is an animal and nees a V8. Maybe better though in Outer Mongolia to have very good economy, means you can go further I suppose.......
