Hi,
I have Mercedes Digital Extras but the cost keeps going up. I only use it for the sat-nav which is not brilliant.
I’ve seen posts regarding using Google maps as opposed to the Mercedes sat-nav system, so my question is how do I upload google maps?
Is it a piece of software or do I have to purchase something to make it work?
My car is a 2016 V Class

Hoping someone can help me.

You need Android Auto / Apple CarPlay - you connect your phone and Google Maps (or Waze, or whatever) is accessible on the vehicle screen. This is a factory option on many Mercs. and there are often ways to retro-fit it if not present.

Do you know what infotainment system you've got?

These guys are in Lightwater (not that far from you) and may be able to help with a retrofit if necessary:

Hi,
Thanks for the information.
I’m not sure what system I have, and I can’t seem to find this in the manual, could you point me in the right direction?
I can connect via bluetooth for my phone or to play media and wi-fi for the internet.

I found an adapter that lists the cars and what year CarPlay works and the V-Class is not until 2020, which seems a bit strange as some models are from 2016

Reading about connecting CarPlay it seems simple but having the latest iPhone its a ‘C’ connection and the car is a USB maybe I need an adapter?

This is what I found on the Apple support page

Start your car, then make sure Siri is on.
Connect your iPhone to your car:
If your car supports CarPlay with a USB cable: Plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car. The USB port might be labeled with a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon. Be sure to use an Apple USB Cable.
If your car supports CarPlay both wirelessly and with a USB cable: Plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car. The next time you attempt to connect your iPhone to CarPlay, an alert on your iPhone allows you to connect wirelessly.
If your car supports only wireless CarPlay: Press and hold the voice command button on your steering wheel. Make sure that your stereo is in wireless or Bluetooth mode. Then on your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on. Then, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, and select your car. Check your car manual for more information.

Post a pic of your system and someone will be able to identify type, then easier to advise

Steve, that’s easy to do
