Hi all ... Could really do with some help on this one ....I have an 06 mercedes e class 320 cdi sport it has done 123000 miles and been serviced . In jan it broke down and would not start , just before this it started smoking very badly whitey grey smoke five mins after it had been idling. It was diagnosed as an injector stuck open creating an air lock... One other injector is getting close to being out of limits but is not out of limits ... The car has a puff of the same colour smoke for a second as soon as it fires , then nothing when it drives although on the first acceleration of any drive it struggles like an old car in the wrong gear ... No smoking at any point when it drives And then when it idles after 5 mins smokes extremely bad whitey grey then clears a few mins after you pull away again ... The Mercedes star computer shows no faults and it's already cost me over 1000.00 and the fault is still there... It did at one point show intermittent egr valve but I dont think it's there now ... Could it be the injector that's close to limits ? The car all the rest of the time runs an drives no problem and acceleration is fantastic . I've so far been told it could be the turbo , the inlet valve controller , other injector, egr valve, oil wiper seals, and valve seals, any one of which ould be extremely expensive and possibly fix nothing !!!Don't seem to be getting any where and spending a fortune... Please help !!! Regards glyn

I doubt the injector close to its limit is the cause. The live data on the star needs to be checked more carefully. Generally lack of power is caused by lack of boost pressure that caused by various components failing. Such as turbo, EGR, boost leak, inlet port shut off etc etc. It's intermittent nature makes it tricky to fix.

Thanks for the info... Inlet port shut off motor was ok on star computer as the guy originally thought it may be this .., I don't understand though what is causing it to smoke so much after its been idling for five mins ,, it's like throwing leaves onto a Bon fire which means drivin in traffic is near impossible as it requires stop starting the engine ???
