Mercedes GLC brake squeal noise

After spending over £25,000 on a Mercedes Benz Approved Used GLC I am left with unbearable brake squeal noise. It happens at low speed, in cold weather, under light braking. Mercedes say its not a fault and will not be fixed under the manufacturers warranty, even though the car has been like this since I bought it 2 months ago with under 30k miles on it . If I want it fixed I will have to pay over £450 to have both the front and rear pads replaced! Car was bought through the UK Mercedes Benz Approved Used website.
Anyone else have this horrendous brake squeal noise from their Mercedes Benz GLC?
Is there a known issue with the brakes on the GLC?

Sounds like standard disc squeal. This can stem from a variety of sources. Worn discs/pads or partially seized brake/ caliper mechanisms. Normally these should be routinely lubricated/ inspected during certain service operations and or during a brake disc/pad change. Ironically a car where the brakes are used infrequently/ little worn is more likely to develop such symptoms as the inspection /lubrication step may be omitted where the brake pads don't require renewal. Unfortunately brake pads and discs are not covered by warranty as they are regarded as consummable items like tyres. If the car was sold/described as having a full MB service history there should be a service record of the car available to you as the bona -fide new owner. Depending on what that reveals you may have some grounds to help negotiate a reduction in/ waiver of any service charge for pad renewal

Do they squeal when reversing only? Do they squeal when the brakes are cold only?

Ask a mechanic to take a look. They’ll whip the wheels, maybe apply some copper grease and check that the pads for even wear. They may even flatten any wedge shape which may be forming. It could be sorted for £30 or so for a one man band mechanic.

They could probably pop new pads on for not a lot more if you shop around and haggle for the pads.

I should have perhaps added this third party MB specialist/ local mechanic option to my post so glad BD has done so.

Yes its predominantly when its cold, (under 6C temp.) and in reverse but can happen going forward as well. Just means you get it every morning reversing out of our drive!
It seems to disappear when they 'warm up' as long as ambient temp not too cold.
Worst case was when I following a hearse at a funeral with the family in the car when the coffin was being carried out of the park! SOOOOOOO EMBARRASSING!!!
Will look up an independent MB garage and see what they say. It just very disappointing that Mercedes are happy to sell you a car that does this.

It doesn’t even need to be an MB specialist, just a mechanic you trust should be able to sort it for you.

In the USA and I thought UK, Mercedes changed the design of the brake pads to eliminate this issue, some pads were replaced under warranty. I understand the end of the pads are now rounded or angled , not straight ended - this cuts out the frequency issue of squeal..
Check if there is a new part number to reflect the altered design.
