hi has anyone dealt with this company (mercedes perfomance) if so what did you buy/have fitted?
i am very interested in tuning my C200 (W202)
the ECU upgrades look good as well as the exhausts, but first i think it will have to be the Ramair kit,
i presume that they are just a bolt on, or will the car need a rolling road afterwards?

I had some dealings with them regarding some interior accessories but decided not to use them. This was partly based on advice from another forum member, and partly because the guy I was dealing with didn't return phone calls and instinct told me that he was over-promising and likely to under-deliver.

its a 1998 200 sport, apparently with 1999 spec. dont really know what differences there are.

I have purchased stainless steel door sills and a walnut/leather steering wheel from them. The drawback is they place orders on a specific day, so if you miss it you wait a week to have the order placed. The kit is good quality and well worth the money. You can judge for yourself if you are going to the gtg as you can see the items on my car. They can be a bit lax on returning calls, but once told off they tend to be ok.

The claims on Mercedes Perfomance's website I find unbelievable.

Carefull with induction kits on a '98 C200 as you have a MAS and induction kits can kill them - ~£300 to resolve.

Why would an induction kit kill your MAS? They still have filters as far as I know (I'm looking at one myself as my W202 has a VDO ECU and can't be chipped  ).

I think it relates to the type of air filters used in this modification.

The O.E air filters used on this model are of a paper-type construction.

MAS sensors are very sensitive, and quite prone to failure.

The air filters used in these 'induction kits' tend to be of the oiled-foam type (K&N etc), and it is possible for small partcles of the oil to make there way onto your MAS sensor, potentially causing it to fail. The MAS sensors can cost ~ £300 to replace!

Some people have been ok with these, many have not, so it is a bit of a gamble, with a possibly expensive outcome if it goes wrong!

Just so people are aware of this I guess, better to be informed than to regret something! :)

Ok, I saw the post that Graham230k (I think, either that or Shude or Koolvin) made about their K&N filter and possibly cocking up their MAS. Although I think in the end it was possibly on the way out already (need to look through the old posts). Anyway thanks for the advice - anyone out there had a Ramair induction kit fitted? (If that is a problem maybe I could cough up the £2.5k+vat for the manifold, cat and exhaust + £4k for the turbo, the list is endless!)

Without trying to sound negative, you would be better off spending the money on changing the car for something with a bit more ooomph as standard. I started off with a C180 and was never very happy with it, I spent the money on the ECU tuning, K&N filter, upgraded spark plugs, etc, etc in the end I was still dissapointed so I got rid of it and got something with more power and performance. I had the C180 for less than a year, the C250TD has been with me for over 18 months and I am still happy with it.

Ditto,

At the current prices for W202s, it should be the best value too. :)
Also much more likely to retain its value (eg, C200 with mods vs C230K or C280 etc)

Ive been looking into using this company for a while now and there figures do look very good but to me a little unbeleivable.
But they offer so much for my baby C230K...
SUPERCHIP, CAT REPLACEMENT, ECU UPGRADE, HP MANIFOLD
And many more...

I had some bits and bobs of them which i have had no problem with, but i have heard they mucked a few
ECU up, but for exhausts i think getting it custom made mine is guaranteed for life, plus its all welded and no clamps.
