ML250 CDI video review

I drove the 350 Bluetec a few weeks ago and I think its a great car with a perfectly matched engine/gearbox combo, amazingly quiet as well just in general think it's a tad over priced.. the 250 doesn't really appeal to me but would be interesting to see if it can match the fuel economy stats that MB have released for it.

It won't match the figures on the basis 212 and 204 owners struggle but it will be more economical and with the prodigious torque and power enough for a motorist who's not questing big speeds.

I've read reports saying the 4cyl engine works well in the new M Class.

Was surprised to see 3 of them listed in InchCape's Approved Used sale - I signed up on the MB website for information to be sent when available but I've heard nothing.

I'm in Florida at the moment and there are huge numbers of SUVs here, some of them very striking, but I've yet to see a new ML.

New price 50K with some options seems to high for a 2.2L 4 cylinder car. If it does 40 + mpg then thats a very good figure but as mentioned not sure it will in a car this size.

My guess they will NOT sell as well as the out going models and possibly some great lease deals soon.

The used ones on the Inchcape site were around £50K although I suppose it's early days.

The hire car I've got is the 2012 Chevy Equinox - same as the Chevy Captiva and Vauxhall Antara in the UK (although not sure if the 2012 model is out there - not models I'd normally follow). There are absolutely loads of them here, and the Hertz hire car is the top of the range LTZ with 3 litre V6, AWD, leather memory seats, touch screen nav, rear camera, elec rear door etc etc. Rides very nicely on 17" wheels (noticed the ML is on 19" as standard). Allowing for VAT the price of the LTZ would be around £25K but you can lease an entry level model (about £18,500) for $229/mth!
